Kinja'd!!!

As some of you may know I have been looking for a project car recently,I cannot guarantee anything at this point, but these are nearby me and are at least worth a look. it was surprisingly hard finding a picture of someone working on a car who didn’t look like a complete idiot.

The Fairlane

Kinja'd!!!

This isn’t in too bad shape, it’s probably easily fixable ( by someone with my limited skill ) and it looks nice. It doesn’t seem to have much rust.

Buick Electra 225

Kinja'd!!!

This Duece and a quarter has a little rust, some moss and it’s quite dirty. Nothing a good wash can’t fix I bet. seems generally straight. There was a hole in the top though...

This Toyota Pickup

Kinja'd!!!

Meh.

I’m not too excited about this one, it’s got rust spots and holes in it. It looks like it broke down and was left to rot.

The 911/912

Kinja'd!!!

Pictured: A Lot of moneys

I feel like this car needs no introduction, I’ve left a note for the seller but they don’t seem to want to sell. It’s probably worth the most if it’s a 911, hell it’s still probably worth the most out of these cars if it’s a 912. This is probably the best investment out all these cars.

“Sad Charlie” The AW11 MR2

Kinja'd!!!

I like this MR2 so much I’ve given it a nickname, last time I saw it, there were rattraps inside. Water in the interior is also a concern. I’d bet it has some sort of issue with the supercharger.

Toyota Supra

Kinja'd!!!

It’s been sitting at the local gas station for a bit, I’m not quite sure if it’s still there, but IT WILL go up in value. Not sure how I feel about it.

Well what would you pick? YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE! I’ll probably update this post beacuse I’ll probably find more ratty cars to post. Kinja formatting is being weird right now.

id buy a project bike to start with tbh.

cheaper, easier to work on, easier to get rid of if it doesnt work out either.

I’d like to use my vote to deduct one point from the mr2

The one with less rust and less rat traps.

I would buy the 911.

I think the toyota is the best. Mainly because my friend had one until some shoddy repairs caused the engine to go ka-blewy and I’d just love to see one of those toyotas on oppo.

The pickup, MR2, or Supra?

It really depends on the amount of mechanical skill you have. Don’t get in too deep and just wind up with a junk car in your driveway.

I’d suggest the first one for that reason.

Supra if running, or easy to get running. Will definitely hold value.

I voted Fairlane mostly because my first car was a Torino so that’s what I learned on and I think it would be a cheap and easy car to work on. To be honest, I would pick the one with the least rust, but would probably skip the Porsche unless I knew for sure what parts I would need and how much those would cost.

Assuming you can get it, I'd go Porsche. My runner up would either be the supra or the fairlane.

That Buick will cost the least to restore, parts are plentiful and cheap because nobody restores Buicks. You should be able to scavenge what you need from a junkyard with little skill.

You probably won’t be able to make money, but you should be able to break even in any scenario if something comes up.

Also, pre-emission control 430 Big Block. 360hp from the factory, easily transformed to a 455 from what I hear, and no EGR crap to spoil your fun.

I voted for the Electra, because that would be a fun car to see fixed up on the road, but the Fairlane is probably the right answer.

Well, once you get your license you’re gonna want to be able to get in your car and go, not be like well shit I can’t drive this cause I’m still waiting on all these parts to start this rebuild process. You know what’s better than having a car in pieces? Having one that will reliably get you somewhere. Friends want to hang out? Cool, I’ve got a car, not a project. You might be able to take the 500 on occasion, but not might be able to count on being able to use it everyday. I don’t know anything about you; age, education, etc. However I do remember when I had just gotten my license, and you know what’s better than a project car? Being 16 and having a reliable car. The project car should be a second car, that’s why it’s called a project. Unless this is meant to be your first car, then at least get one that you can have ready and driving the day you get your license.

Fairlaneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I’d love to have an old 911/912 as much as the next guy, but that thing looks like a definite money pit. Plus it sounds like the owner isn’t willing to sell anyway.

Fairlane. Your skills are limited, don’t bury yourself in a basket-case. The Buick is cool, but I guarantee the floors are rotted out. They always are in convertibles, and there is a hole in the roof of this one. The Porsche is way too far gone for a newbie. Those Toyotas are shit boxes, and the Supra won’t be going up in value anytime soon IMO.

Foxbody mustang, there are tons of them out there, so many avenues for mods and a ludicrous amount of aftermarket support. These are going to be going up in value soon as well. Can’ go wrong with a fairly small and light car with a V-8 that is relatively easy to wake up.
